New World Makati Hotel - Philippines
New World Makati Hotel is a 5 star luxury hotel located in the heart of Makati City, Manila. This hotel is easily accessible to the malls and eating places. Greenbelt Lifestyle shopping complexes is just across the street! The security is very strict as there's metal detector and sniffing dog at the entrance of the hotel. You don't have to worry too much because the sniffing dog will only sniff your luggage. However, every time you enter the hotel, you have to go through the metal detector and have your handbag checked. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. When we reached the hotel entrance, the staff welcomed us by opening the car door and helped us with our luggage.
We were upgraded to a Premier room on arrival which comes with a king-sized bed, large writing desk, flat-screen TV with various channels, in-room safe, complimentary internet access, iron & ironing board, couch, hair dryer, bath robe, individual air-conditioning temperature control, bathroom weighing scale, mini fridge, mini bar, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water, complete toiletries, disposable slippers, coffee or tea making facilities and spacious bathroom with bathtub and a walk in shower.
Clean, comfy and spacious room. Shower is separated from the toilet area with its own transparent cubicle. However, shower wasn't really pleasant because there's inconsistency in the hot water supply. Hotel facilities includes gym and swimming pool. Overall it was a pleasant stay until the last day where there was a strange incident happened. It was 4.30am in the morning and I was awaken with the sudden brightness in our hotel bedroom. Normally in hotel, we sleep with the lights off except for the bathroom lights.
All of a sudden I felt the room went bright. Then, I heard a clicking sound and the room went dark. Few second later I heard another clicking sound and the room went bright again! There's a flick on the light switch which went on and off for few times before the room was finally bright. I heard my partner snoring beside me and gave him a kick. I dare not open my eyes until he was awake. I asked whether he's playing with the light switch but he said no! There's no one in the room except us. This is the first time I experience such strange incident. The light switch turned on and off by itself. Is the room haunted or it's just a malfunction of the light switch which went clicking on its own? Somehow it still remains a mystery and glad that it was our last day staying in this room...
(Room rate: RM 1,644.44 for 4 days 3 nights excluding breakfast)
