Taiwan - Day 7 (Taoyuan)
We came here for brunch on the first day after arrival and we're here again on the second last day for late breakfast. As mentioned in my previous blog, this is Ben's regular breakfast place. He has his own "special order" specially prepared by the owner that you won't find anywhere else! This round I had hot pot soup fine noodles and it's good. Love the texture of the fine noodles - not too hard and not too soft. We ordered other side dishes as well such as chicken nuggets and corn egg pancake.

After breakfast, we paid a visit to Uncle Xie and he brought us for lunch at Yentl Garden Restaurant. We just had our late breakfast 2 hours ago and here we are again for lunch. Still feeling full, I decided to order pasta - spaghetti with ham in cream sauce, while my partner ordered roasted sirloin steak. His steak was undercooked, more towards medium rare even though he requested for medium well. They reheated the steak but it came back still on the medium rare side. Instead of sending it back to the kitchen for the second time, he just ate it.

Ben's quite picky when it comes to food. So when he said the food is good, it is good! There's this sausage stall nearby his place which is his favourite roadside sausage stall. In order to avoid long waiting time, he called and order in advance. The sausage is good. It smells good, juicy and has a slightly sweet taste.

Uncle Xie insisted to bring us for dinner again on our last night in Taoyuan. Together with Alan's parents, we went to this local restaurant that serves "Jiang Mu Ya" (ginger duck hot pot) a popular dish that Taiwanese eat during cold weather. The hot pot comes with ginger, duck meat, herbs and other spices. You can throw in other ingredients into the hot pot such as mushrooms, duck blood cake, vegetables, tofu or bean curd. After eating, your stomach and face will feel really warm. No wonder they only serve this dish during winter.

Ben sent us to the airport the next day and traffic was quite bad in the morning. We managed to get to the airport in time but we didn't have time for breakfast. Ended up we ordered meal on board. Since there's not much choices, we had rice with beef in black sauce. Tender beef cooked in dark soy sauce and spices. The flight took us 3.5 hours and we have safely returned to the "land below the wind"...
