Manchester - Day 4 (Old Trafford Stadium Tour & Museum - Manchester City Centre)
We had our breakfast at McD on our fourth day in Manchester. It's just 3 minutes walk from our hotel and weather was cold and windy. I like the cold temperature and it was below 10'C in the morning! I had cheesy bacon flatbread and hot chocolate while my partner had the ultimate breakfast wrap. My cheesy bacon flatbread was dry and the cheese was not great. At times it's tough to bite through. In another words, my cheesy bacon flatbread looks so innocent and pathetic.
On the other hand, my partner's ultimate breakfast wrap looks more appetizing than mine. The ultimate breakfast wrap comes with a pork sausage patty, egg, bacon, hash brown, and cheese, all wrapped in a tortilla with your choice of brown sauce or ketchup.

After breakfast, we still have another 3 hours before our Old Trafford Stadium Tour & Museum. Instead of waiting in the hotel lobby for the rest of the team, we decided to make a quick trip to Manchester City Centre by taking the free busses (Metroshuttle). Premier Inn Manchester Central is just 2 minutes walk from St. Peter Square Metroshuttle station. So we took the Metroshuttle and stopped by The John Ryland Library, Chetham's Library and Manchester Cathedral.
We didn't enter The John Ryland Library because when we reached there it's not open yet. So, I just took some photographs outside the library. We then took the Metroshuttle to Manchester Cathedral which's just 2 stops away from The John Ryland Library. You can walk too if you want as it's only 8 minutes away from the library. It's just too cold for us to walk and I think my fingers actually went numb!

Finally, Manchester Cathedral is open for visitors and admission is free! You may take photographs using your own camera or mobile phone but there's a £1 charge. I love visiting churches and cathedrals. Beautiful architecture and it's so peaceful and quiet inside the cathedral.

Chetham's Library is the oldest public library in the English speaking world. It's just 4 minutes walk from Manchester Cathedral. Anyone can access the library and it's free but there's specific opening times for you to visit. We missed the 10am slot and the next available slot was 11am. Due to time constraint we were unable to visit the library as we need to catch up with the team at the hotel lobby around 11am for our Old Trafford Stadium Tour and Museum.

We had our late lunch at the Red Café. We shared a plate of The big united mixed grill comes with 14oz meat feast - rump steak, gammon chicken and Cumberland sausage served with a fried egg, mushrooms, grilled cheery tomatoes, onions rings and salads. It was good. I'm not a mushroom lover but surprisingly I like the mushroom very much. Restaurant open from 11am to 4pm.

We left Old Trafford around 3.30pm and took an Uber ride to Museum of Science and Industry located at Liverpool Road. Entry to the museum is free. We took a quick look, snap some photos and proceed to our next destination.

We took an Uber from Museum of Science & Industry to Chinatown (8 minutes ride) as we were too lazy to walk. Walking distance from the Museum to Chinatown will take approximately 16 minutes. Chinatown was very quiet and "dead". We walked around and ended up had our early dinner at Jamie's Italian, 4 minutes walk from Chinatown.

Jamie's Italian has this two courses set menu served Monday to Friday 12pm to 6pm for £12.95. You get to choose one starters and one mains. We ordered Truffle tagliatelle - freshly made pasta, Umbrian truffle, truffle cream and nutmeg as our starter and Carbonara - Casarecce pasta with golden smoky pancetta, cracked black pepper and Parmesan as our mains.
You can top up £3 for a dessert. There's four types of desserts for you to choose from:
a) rich chocolate brownie (chocolate sauce, salted caramel, popcorn gelato & caramelised popcorn)
b) Affogato (vanilla ice cream with a shot of pipping hot espresso)
c) Clementine sorbet (three scoops of refreshing citrus sorbet) or
d) Jamie's favourite Torta Di Nana (blueberry & olive oil cake with whipped cream, amaretti biscuits, honey & orange zest)
Truffle tagliatelle was slightly hard for my liking. Their kitchen accidentally prepared a bigger portion for us and we couldn't finished it. On the other hand, Carbonara was cooked al-dente but tasted a bit bland. We didn't order any dessert because we were already full. Overall we didn't really enjoy our dinner. Waiter wasn't really friendly to us and sad to say that we didn't feel welcome at all.

After our early dinner at Jamie's Italian, we decided to walk back to our hotel. Premier Inn Manchester Central is just 8 minutes walk from Jamie's Italian. We passed by Manchester Town Hall which was close for a repair and refurbished programme until 2024. Somehow we still couldn't deal with jet lag. We went straight to bed after our early dinner and sleep until the next day!
