Super Tanker - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Image
Super Tanker is well known to the local people and one of the famous restaurant here in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The restaurant is always pack especially weekends. Double storey restaurant and most locals have their full moon party or birthday celebration here. Fast service, good food and pleasant environment as it's fully air conditioned. We ordered our favourite dish - sweet & sour pork and broccoli mushroom beancurd. Usually I don't really fancy sweet and sour pork because those that I had before were either filled with fats or flour. However, I love their sweet and sour pork. It's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. You can really taste the meat. This dish comes with green capsicum, onions, tomatoes and red chillies. Besides that, their signature dish broccoli mushroom beancurd was delicious too. Broccoli cooked to perfection and beancurd was really good. Love it! Apart from that, we tried their steam tilapia asam fish. It turned out to be just so-so f...

Salut Seafood Restaurant - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Image
If you happen to visit Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, I'm sure your friend will tell you not to miss the seafood here! Majority of the seafood restaurant is famous for their fresh seafood, including this Salut Seafood Restaurant, located 16 mins (12km) drive from Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai . Since we were on a short getaway at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai, we decided to drive out and have our dinner here. The place is rather secluded and you might need Google maps to get you there. The road going in from the main road was a dim gravel road. Drive slowly and just follow the dim lighting. This wooden restaurant next to the sea was quite empty when we reached there around 7.30pm. It looks a bit rundown. We ordered three dishes - fish, prawn and scallops. My favourite dish was the scallop with oyster sauce. Scallops were cooked to perfection and sauce was delicious but both butter prawn and steam fish were just so-so for me. Not the best butter prawn that I had but prawns...

The Penyu (lunch) at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

We had both breakfast and late lunch at The Penyu on our 2nd day of stay in Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai . I ordered Nexus decker, a triple decker sandwich with grilled chicken breast, beef bacon, fried egg, sliced tomato, red onion, Gouda cheese and mayonnaise served with crispy french fries while my partner ordered nasi goreng - spicy fried rice with chicken and prawn served with fried chicken and satay. I love their Nexus decker. Chicken breast was tender, juicy and grilled to perfection. Nothing tastes better than crisp lettuce, extremely fresh and a perfect combination with the juicy chicken breast, beef bacon and fried egg. I was very happy with my meal. Slightly expensive but it's tasty and just the right portion after a heavy breakfast.  On the other hand, my partner keep stealing my food because mine taste better than his! His fried rice doesn't taste spicy to me at all and I don't really enjoy his food. Before we had our meal, they offer complimentar...

Our stay in  Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai  comes with buffet breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children below 12 years old. Two days in a row we had the same buffet breakfast. There's hot and cold breakfast selection including variety of pastries, rice (nasi lemak), fried noodles, porridge, hot oatmeal, hash browns, pancakes, ham, sausages, roti canai, egg station, noodles station (yellow noodles, kueh teow or mee hoon with vegetables, tofu or bean sprouts), fruits, cereals, salad, can peach, yogurts and juices. Not many hotel buffet breakfast that I had served hot oatmeal. It reminds me of my school days. I used to have a bowl of oatmeal every morning while waited for the school bus to come. Only oatmeal mixed with milk powder without any sugar or honey. Healthy breakfast to kick start my day :) Apart from that, they served mainly local fruits such as star fruits, water guava, guava, banana, honey dew, papaya and water melon. There's can peach and pears too. One of my fav...
