Mountain Jade Backpackers (Hokitika) - New Zealand

Mountain Jade Backpackers is situated in the heart of Hokitika, upstairs from the Jade factory (no lift available). Strategically located in the town and just few minutes walk to the Stumpers Bar & Cafe. (Remember to order their ribeye. Yummy!)

We took the 8 bed dorms - no bed warmer but the room comes with heater. (Price: $200 excluding breakfast) Overall the room is clean and tidy. However we can hear sound of termites eating through wood at night.

Smoking within the building is strictly prohibited and you can only use the balcony area if you wish to smoke. Check out time is 10am on day of departure. If you misplace your keys after office hours, there will be an automatic call out fees of $25.

The kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils and you can prepare your own breakfast. There is also a large lounge area where you can hang out and play board games or watch tv.

Jollibee is a Filipino multinational chain of fast food restaurants. On the day of arrival, we asked our friendly Grab driver what is the must-try food in Philippines and he mentioned Jollibee. Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. They only serve ala-carte breakfast and you need to pre-book it at The Pines Restaurant latest by 9.30pm for your next day's breakfast. There's Malay, Chinese, Western or kids breakfast set. Apart from that, there's free flow of Tenom coffee, Sabah tea, mango and orange juice. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking Mount Kinabalu. Great view and you can slide the glass window to get some fresh air.
