Merino Country Farmstay (Lake Tekapo) - New Zealand
Merino Country Farmstay is located near Lake Tekapo. The owner of the house, Greg and Nicola gave us a warm welcome and even helped us to setup and cook our BBQ dinner. We did some shopping and bought some beef, sausages and lamb before we came to this farmstay.
However, few minutes after our arrival there was a power trip. The technician needed at least few hours to fix the problem. Ended up we had our candle light BBQ dinner under the starry night. The night sky was amazing. It was clear and the weather was so cold that you can even see your own breath! I saw the milky way and a shooting star for the first time ever! The feeling was really amazing. If not because of the cold weather I would have lie down on the grass and look at the sky for hours!
Back to the farmstay review... The bedrooms were clean, spacious, comfortable and all the beds came with bed warmer. The owner rent out 3 of their rooms to us with the price of $515 including breakfast. They have a nice and cosy living room which comes with a fireplace. The owner has a pet dog and cat too.
Greg and Nicola woke up early in the morning to prepare our breakfast. After that Greg brought us to see his farm and a short tour around Lake Tekapo. Kind of sad that we only managed to see few of his sheeps as the rest were no where to be seen. Frankly we do not really feel that it was a farmstay but the service given by both Greg and Nicole were great.
