Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown - Kuala Lumpur
Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown is just a short walk from Chinatown, Pasar Seni and Masjid Jamek LRT station, making it a convenient and well-connected place to stay. The hotel has a modern, youthful vibe with its bold design, neon lights and plenty of Instagrammable corners that are perfect for capturing your travel moments.
Our initial plan was to stay at the hotel for three nights, mainly because of its strategic location. With the Masjid Jamek LRT station just a short walk away, it was super convenient for us to hop on the train and head to Bukit Jalil station to attend Jacky Cheung's concert at Axiata Arena. The easy access to public transport made it the perfect spot, not only for exploring the city but also for getting to the concert without the hassle of traffic or parking.
We arrived at the hotel around 2.30am, and luckily, the check-in process was smooth and easy. Our room was on the 16th floor and had a modern, minimalist vibe that reminded me of Hotel Papa Whale in Taipei. The room was compact and the bed was a bit on the smaller side but surprisingly comfortable. The air-conditioning worked well and kept the room nice and cool throughout our stay. Plus, you need a key card to access your floor, which adds a nice touch of security.
The bathroom had a sleek design, but there was nowhere to hang towels or clothes. So we had to hang them outside on the row of hooks provided. The basin was located outside the bathroom, and the shower pressure was decent. A nice touch was the mangosteen-scented shower gel, which smelled really pleasant. The room only came with two glass bottles of drinking water, so it's a good idea to bring your own bottle or use the cups provided. One downside was the noise. Even around 3am, I could still hear loud music coming from a nearby pub.
The hotel has a coin laundry on level 8, a swimming pool and gym on level 9. At check-in, we received two welcome drink vouchers that can be redeemed at Bar Moxy, which is located on level 9. The drink options were quite interesting. You can choose either Call it Hijau (a mix of pandan, mint, lemongrass syrup, cucumber, mint, lemon juice and soda water), Miss Moxy (lychee puree, rosemary syrup, lemon juice, butterfly pea and soda water), Spice Street (grapefruit juice, lime juice, sugar syrup, green tea and grenadine), as well as coffee, tea or soft drinks.
Our stay included two complimentary buffet breakfasts, available from 6am to 10.30am. Since we arrived in the early hours of the morning, we were way too tired to get up in time. So we ended up skipping breakfast. Overall, our stay at Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown had its ups and downs. The location was super convenient, and the modern vibe of the place was nice. However, the room was on the small side and noise from nearby bars made it less comfortable than expected.
