Jen Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La - Penang

Jen Penang Georgetown is located in the prime shopping areas of Georgetown. It's just 1 minute (120m) walking distance to 1st Avenue Mall and 4 minutes (350m) walking distance to Prangin Mall. We checked in at 5pm and hotel staff at the reception area wasn't very friendly. Apart from that, there's no lift access if you park your car at the ground floor. Basically, you have to take a short staircase to access to the hotel lift. If you are carrying big luggage, it's either you park your car at upper level or drop your luggage at the hotel entrance before you proceed to the parking lot. Not to mention there's limited car park available. (Parking is free for hotel guests)

We stayed in a deluxe room that comes with a king size bed, single sofa, wall mounted TV with selected TV channels (Netflix is available provided you have an account), writing desk, coffee or tea making facilities, complimentary mineral water, face mask, face mask holder, alcohol wet wipes, hand sanitizer, mini fridge, in-room safe, disposable slippers, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, self controlled air conditioning and toiletries.

Room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathroom looks clean but cramped shower area. Water pressure is fine and glad that water is hot enough. However, the height of the toilet bowl was way too high that caused my leg to dangle like a small kid. Apart from that, they have a clogged basin and faucet design was quite bad that water splashes all over the counter every time we washes our hand.

Our stay comes with buffet breakfast for 2 person. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. Restaurant is clean and we were given a disposable plastic glove for picking up food from the buffet counter. There's egg station, noodles station, Western cuisine, Asian cuisine, salad bar, yogurts, cheese, bread, pastries, desserts, fruits and free flow of coffee or tea. I enjoyed their hash brown and bacon. Besides that, hot milo from the vending machine is good too. In terms of fruits, they only served watermelon, honeydew and papaya. Food labeling was poor and there's also presence of flies at the pastries area. Apart from that, their desserts doesn't taste good to me. Some are just too sweet for my liking.

Hotel facilities include gym and swimming pool. However, swimming pool only open at 10am to 6pm.
