Gayana Marine Resort, Sabah - Day 2
It was indeed a short weekend getaway. I woke up at 9am, waited for my partner to get ready and we went for breakfast at 9.30am. Our package includes complimentary breakfast served from 7am to 10am at Macac Restaurant. Breakfast consists of one hot dish item served with a bread basket with butter, jam, honey and a fruit platter. Below are the additional items served upon request.
a) Bread basket - mini Croissant, mini chocolate roll, mini fruit lattices, muffin, white or brown toast with butter, jam and honey
b) Cereals - choices of corn flakes, cocoa pops or muesli served with milk (full, skimmed or soy) or yogurt (plain or fruit)
c) Yogurt - plain or with fruits
d) Mix salad - bowl of mix salad and cherry tomatoes with Balsamic Vinaigrette
e) Tropical seasonal fruit platter
f) Assorted nuts - selection of nuts and dried fruits
Hot dishes:
a) The Macac breakfast
b) Seabass hash
c) Three eggs scrambled
d) Three eggs omelette
e) Poached egg Focaccia
f) Coconut bread
g) French raisin toast
h) Toasted coconut pancake
i) Banana pancake
j) Nasi goreng kampung
k) Mee goreng
I ordered The Macac breakfast comes with poached eggs, grilled sausages, beef bacon, hash brown, savoury tomato relish and saute Shitake mushrooms. My partner on the other hand prefers local food. So he ordered Mee goreng seafood - hawker stall style fried egg noodles, shredded egg omelette, bean sprouts, red chilies and seasonal organic greens. You can choose either chicken or seafood for your mee goreng. Service was rather slow as they served our main dishes 45 minutes later. Instead of enjoying our breakfast we have to rush through it because we have yet to pack our stuff and we need to leave the island by 11am!
Our breakfast comes with a bread basket but we couldn't finish all the bread and pastry. I doubt so they will recycle the bread basket. Guess there will be a lot of food waste because I saw most of the guests were unable to finish it as well. Apart from that, I ordered their fruit yogurt but it has gone bad. The texture is lumpy like cottage cheese. The quality of breakfast is average standard. Basically my grilled sausages were the same sausages that we had last night during our BBQ dinner.
We checked out at 10.50am and all of us gathered at the resort lobby, waiting for our boat to depart at 11am. However, there's some delay and we only managed to depart 10 minutes later. We arrived at Jesselton Point around 11.50am. So that ends our short 2 days 1 night weekend get away at Gayana Marine Resort...
