Manchester - Day 1 (Long-haul flight)
My partner won an all expenses paid trip to watch his favourite football team in action at Old Trafford. Damn... you are one lucky man! I decided to tag along and it was a short 7D6N trip to Manchester and London. We stayed 4 nights in Manchester and 2 nights in London before heading back home. In total, there's 8 of us traveling together including the organizer.
Our first day was spent mainly on traveling by plane and train. It took us 2 hours 25 minutes from Kota Kinabalu airport to KLIA before another long-haul flight of 13 hours 45 minutes to Heathrow, London. We woke up at 2.30am, meet the rest of the team at the airport around 3.30am before taking the 5.35am flight from Kota Kinabalu to KLIA. One of our teammate almost missed the flight and luckily our organizer managed to wake him up with a phone call!
We had about 1 hour 50 minutes transit time at KLIA before catching our next flight to Heathrow, London. A long flight is always tiring especially when you can't sleep on the plane. We arrived Heathrow airport around 6pm (London time) Malaysia is 7 hours ahead of London. Our traveling journey does not end here yet. Our organizer rented an eight passenger van that took us from Heathrow airport to Euston railway station. We took the 9pm train from Euston station to Manchester Piccadilly station. (Ticket price £21.60 per person) The train journey took us 2 hours and 8 minutes before reaching Manchester Piccadilly station. We then took a cab to Premier Inn Manchester Central and finally our traveling journey ends around 11.30pm (London time)
Temperature was cold around 10'C when we arrived at Manchester and it was a miracle that I survived the 27 hours journey without taking any naps!
