Sandakan Food Journey, Day 4 - Sabah

We had our brunch at Tam Kopitiam on our last day of Sandakan food journey. Small shop but packed with hungry customers! I ordered a bowl of curry noodles while my partner ordered dry noodles with pork ribs. Curry mee was nice. Not too spicy - comes with fried fish balls, fish cakes, bean sprout, prawns, egg and topped with spring onions. On the other hand, dry noodles with pork ribs tasted so-so for me. I can taste the slight lye water (in Cantonese is called "kansui") in their noodles.

We stopped by Kedai Roti Gold Crown to take away some pastries so that we can have it inside the car while driving back to Kota Kinabalu. This shop serves variety of pastries. We bought egg tart, "lou poh peng" or wife cake - flaky pastry filled with sweet winter melon filling and "tau sar peng" - flaky pastry filled with red bean paste. I enjoyed their egg tart very much. Smooth, soft custard filling and not too sweet. However both "lou poh peng" and "tar sar peng" far too sweet for my liking.

It's better to have a full stomach before starting our long journey back to Kota Kinabalu. Therefore, we decided to visit this restaurant again. We ordered a bowl of non spicy seafood and spicy lean meat bah kut teh. This round fish bah kut teh was not available. Glad that we tried it the other day. Overall, satisfied with our lunch.

We had our late dinner at Tung Fong Seafood Restaurant around 8pm. It was our second time back as we really enjoyed the food on our first visit. My favourite was the fish fillet with sweet sauce. Salted egg prawns were tasty and fresh. Happy and totally full after our dinner...

Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. They only serve ala-carte breakfast and you need to pre-book it at The Pines Restaurant latest by 9.30pm for your next day's breakfast. There's Malay, Chinese, Western or kids breakfast set. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay.
