Kedai Kopi Genting Cafe - Penang

A trip to Penang wouldn't be complete without a bowl of asam laksa! Asam laksa is a spicy-sour fish based soup noodles. The main ingredients for asam laksa are shredded mackerel fish, sliced cucumber, pineapple, onions, red chilies, lettuce, mint leaves, torch ginger and shrimp paste. Some said the best asam laksa is in Ayer Itam. However, this asam laksa in Kedai Kopi Genting Cafe is good enough for me. It's delicious, full of flavour and very appetizing.

Besides asam laksa, there's a stall selling muachi outside the shop. Muachi is a type of dessert made from glutinous rice flour sprinkled with peanuts, sesame seeds and sugar. This is one of my favourite muachi. It's soft, smooth and chewy. Apart from peanuts and sugar, the muachi is topped with fried shallots as well. Best eaten when it's freshly made.

My partner loves their chicken rice as well. Rice is aromatic and most importantly the chicken is moist and succulent. I always remove chicken skin before eating my chicken rice but not this one. I love the chicken skin which is not too greasy and perfect combination with the chili sauce.
