Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix (22~24 March 13) - Sepang

Recently we went to this Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix in Sepang. It was my first time watching the F1 race live and not on tv! Instead of driving ourselves to Sepang, we decided to take the public transport. It was indeed a wise decision because it was so convenient. We took a bus from KL Sentral to Sepang - RM30 for a return ticket. We do not need to waste our time looking for parking lot or caught in the jam because there's a special lane just for the buses when approaching the Sepang International Circuit. However, the bus will drop you off about 5 minutes walk from the main entrance.

The weather was cloudy when we reached Sepang International Circuit and seems that storm is approaching. While walking towards the main entrance we saw many people selling earplugs. They were selling RM5 a pair! I was thinking to myself, how bad will it be until you need an earplugs. Well, I was wrong and regretted for not buying that earplugs. The sound of speed was excruciating loud whenever the F1 driver passed by the grandstand! Each time they passed by I need to cover my ears with my hands!

Anyway before the race began, big drops of rain started to pour. The race continued and settled in for 56 laps. Initially I was very excited as it was my first time watching a live Formula 1. However, shortly after that I began to feel bored. We sat at the grandstand did nothing but waited patiently for the F1 drivers to passed by. The race ended 2 hours later and right after that we headed back home. Sebastian Vettel from the Red Bull-Renault won 1st place, beats his team mate Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton from the Mercedes team completes the top three. We didn't stay for the Guns N Roses after race concert because we were too tired after watching the race.

The public transport was very well arranged. All the buses were at the standby area to pick up the passengers once the race was over. What we need to do was to queue accordingly. Hassle-free and no worries about not getting a seat inside the bus. It was indeed a good experience not to mentioned overpriced food and drinks! An ice cream cost 5x the original price which we can get from any grocery stores. Oh yeah... we actually missed the highlights of the day whereby Lewis Hamilton from the Mercedes team, pulled into the McLaren pits during the race. The sound system wasn't that good and the big screen was far away from our seating. Some might say, just sit back, relax and watch at home. Anyhow it's the atmosphere that counts...
