Penang - Food Hunting Trip (Day 3)

Kedai Kopi Genting Cafe has moved to a neighboring area, where it now operates as First Genting Cafe. The cafe is approximately 6.3km from Sunway Hotel, Georgetown (Grab fare - RM 12). I've recently grown to enjoy their chee cheong fun (steamed flat rice noodles), but sadly, by the time we got there at midday, they were all sold out. I decided to try their asam laksa, but it was not as flavourful as the old stall. My partner ordered the roasted pork and chicken rice. The chicken rice is soft and fluffy, but the chicken itself is soft and mushy. There's a stall selling prawn paste, and my partner bought two bottles to take home.

Our next stop is Nasi Kandar Sulaiman. We took a Grab ride from First Genting Cafe to Nasi Kandar Sulaiman, which is around 3.9km away (Grab fare - RM 10). When we arrived about 1pm, there was already a big line outside the restaurant, and we waited for almost 30 minutes. They have a system in place that only allows you to be seated once you order your food. We shared a plate of nasi kandar with fried chicken, egg and beef. Their fried chicken is moist and tender. Beef is also tender, but I'm not a big fan of the way it's cooked. Besides that, the rice was slightly undercooked. I had a glass of iced lemon tea. It's refreshing and not too sweet. It would be great if they added more ice cubes. After that, we took a Grab ride back to our hotel (Grab fare - RM 6).

(Total bill - RM 13.80)

That night, we met our supplier for dinner at Chinmi Stone Pot Fish Restaurant. The restaurant is located in Tanjung Tokong, approximately 6.5km from the Sunway Hotel, Georgetown (Grab fare - RM 21). Overall, the food is nice, except for the vermicelli with shrimp, which is slightly salty and greasy. One of my favourite dishes is the Putian fried rice vermicelli. The rice vermicelli is soft, flavourful and chewy.

After dinner, our supplier decided to bring us to this place called Shill 90's. Outside, the place appears run-down. However, once inside, the area is spacious and lively with open-air seating. It's a great place to hang out with friends for drinks and finger food. There's a live band and it's a pet-friendly place.
