Sabai Dee Cafe - Alor Setar, Kedah
Looking for tasty Thai food with an outdoor dining in garden concept, check out Sabai Dee Cafe located in Jitra, Kedah. Located in a very quiet secluded area, this restaurant served nice Thai food. Sabai Dee Cafe is surrounded by a natural green paddy field and you can get a view of the stunning sunset too. Great place to take photos.
We ordered steamed squid in lime sauce, tom yam seafood, sambal petai udang, Thai mango salad, Thai pineapple fried rice, stir fried egg plant and deep fried catfish with tumeric. My favourite dishes were steamed squid in lime sauce, Thai pineapple fried rice and deep fried cat fish with tumeric. I really enjoyed their steamed squid in lime sauce. Cautious! This is a very spicy dish that might caused a burning feeling in your mouth and stomach but the whole combination with the lime sauce was perfect for me. Thinking of the sour and spicy dish makes my mouth water.
Besides that, Thai pineapple fried rice and deep fried catfish with tumeric were delicious too. We ordered 2 jugs of Ambarella juice or locally known as "kedongdong" juice and this is the best "kedondong" juice that I had so far. The flavour was very well balanced. Not too sour but at the same time you can taste the preserved plum "asam boi" flavour and Ambarella fruit. Local people normally ordered it as "Ambra semboi" meaning Ambarella fruit juice with preserved plum.
End of our meal, I decided to try their coconut jelly but it turned out to be so-so for me. Overall all the dishes were good except Thai mango salad which I find it a bit sour to my liking. Tom yam seafood was good too but not as spicy as the steamed squid in lime sauce.
Staff were friendly and attentive. To avoid disappointment, kindly make a reservation before making a trip there.
