East Coast Food Court - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

I love Malay style grilled fish or "Ikan bakar" in Malay. One of the popular street food found all over Malaysia. Grilled fish with "sambal" in banana leaves, moist, aromatic and full of flavours. Sambal is a type of sauce made from variety of chili pepper, shrimp paste, garlic, ginger, shallot, sugar, salt and lime juice.

I'm so glad that we found this stall, East Coast BBQ Lido located at Lido Square which serves delicious grilled fish. Food court only opens in the evening, as the place turned out to be a market in the morning. They sell variety of seafood such as fish, sea snails, squids and clams. I just love their grilled fish. Most of the time we will order stingray fish. The spicy level is just right for me. The fish remains moist, succulent and full of flavours. Best eaten when it's hot.

Update: This restaurant has moved to a new location.
