Restaurant Kong Sai - Petaling Jaya

Chicken rice is a very common food that you can find in any hawker stall. Whenever I couldn't think of anything to eat I will say, let's go for chicken rice. What makes a chicken rice taste good? Well, obviously is the chicken (sweet & tender), rice (fragrant & soft but not mushy), chili sauce and dark sweet soy sauce. It's a "must" for me to add dark sweet soy sauce into my chicken rice and chilli sauce (unless the restaurant couldn't provide any dark sweet soy sauce). It really makes a lot of difference by adding it into your food.

So, last week we decided to go for chicken rice at Restaurant Kong Sai. We ordered individual chicken rice - comes with a plate of rice and chicken breast. You can select any parts of the chicken but I prefer either chicken breast of drumstick. The chicken was tender and the rice was fragrant and soft.

Apart from that, we ordered Kong Sai steamed fish - steamed tilapia fish topped with chopped ginger, garlic, coriander, spring onions, cili padi and mixture of soy sauce. The fish was fresh but the coriander taste was very strong.

Since it's crazy hot weather in PJ at the moment, we ordered old cucumber soup because it is believed to have heat reducing properties. The soup consists of red dates, wolfberries, old cucumber, chicken bones and dried squid. Besides old cucumber soup, they served peppered stomach soup, peanut and lotus root soup, watercress soup, papaya steam white fungus soup and many more.
