Ipoh, Perak - Food Hunting Trip (Day VIII)

Image
Before we leave Ipoh, we had our favourite "nga choy kai" (bean sprouts chicken) and tau fu fa again. On the way back to KL, we dropped by Bidor for the famous duck mee. One of the speciality in this Restaurant Pun Chun is their d uck soup noodles. The duck soup was good (contains various chinese herbs such as wolfberries, dried longan and many more) and the meat was tender. Besides that, the noodles were springy and perfectly cooked. We ordered the "wu kok" as well - Fried yam puff filled with roasted bbq pork. The wu kok was really good. The yam texture was perfect - flaky on the outside and creamy on the inside. The bbq pork was very flavourful and consist of lean meat.   So what we had for dinner? Of course we "tapau" our favourite nasi kandar from Kedai Kopi Yong Suan! One thing I love about Ipoh is the food! Within a day we managed to cover 6 places. :) Am I a big eater? Not really... Do I get fat by eating all these delicious food? Of course not... I'm just a skinny girl (I mean really skinny) who enjoys eating. Maybe I should be thanking my parents for the "skinny genetic" :) We had our first meal of the day at Restoran Thean Chun and it was my first time here. This shop is known as the "Hall of Mirrors" due to the mirrors lining the entire length of a wall. The shop is very crowded during breakfast and finding a place to sit can be a hassle. We were lucky that we found a small table right beside the "chee cheong fun" stall and what a small world. My partner bumped into his relative with his group of friends here! We ordered the pork "satay" (skewered grilled meat served with sauce). The owner will serve you a plate of satays when you placed your order and you only need to pay for the sticks of sa

We woke up at 6am and took the earliest ferry back to Kuala Terengganu. The ferry depart at 7am from Redang Island, stopped by Long Beach to pick up some passengers and reached Shahbandar Jetty at 8.40am. We went and collect our car and was glad that it's still there at the open air carpark. This time we had ba kut teh at Restoran Siang Ping. We ordered 2 portions of meat, a plate of "yau char kwai" (golden-brown deep fried dough), a plate of yam rice, a plate of rice, a glass of icy cold water and herbal tea. Total meal cost RM25. The bak kut teh is light and leaves a slight lingering aftertaste of liquorice.    Chinatown, Kuala Terengganu Restoran Siang Ping Cooking area
