There's a few highly recommended bak kut the in Sabah and one of it is Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh located in the busy street of Gaya. I grew up in Klang and when you mentioned Klang, people tend to relate to Klang bak kut teh. No doubt the best place for bak kut teh is still in Klang and my favourite shop is still Restoran Teluk Pulai (Clay Pot) Ba Kut Teh. You can read more about it here . What I like about Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh is their dry bak kut teh. This dish comes with slices of pork (with or without fat), lady fingers, dry cuttlefish, onions and dry chili. It is very flavourful and tasty. The dried chili and dried cuttlefish really enhance the taste further. I have tried their personal claypot bak kut teh but the taste was just so-so for me. Their claypot version comes with only soup and meat. The bak kut teh soup is light and leaves a slight lingering aftertaste of liquorice (hint of bitterness) which I don't really fancy. You may choose your preferred cut meat such

This restaurant was recommended by one of our contractor. They don't serve the best "kam heong style crab" but their seafood is really fresh. I can actually taste the natural sweetness and tender of the crab's meat. Same goes for the elephant shell. This is the first time I tried the elephant shell. They are sweet in flavour with an almost crunchy texture. One of my favourite dish is the Hong Kong style deep fried fish slice. Comes with fried garlic coated with honey and some dry chili, this dish is very flavourful and tasty. Besides that, I enjoyed their salted egg prawns, butter prawn, salted egg with baby long beans and scallops with cashew nut too. However, dry butter prawn (without shell) was so-so. The restaurant ran out of prawns with shell that night but we decided to proceed with this dish. Turned out the prawns were slightly overcooked and dry. You may choose to dine in an air-conditioned room or the restaurant's open-air section. Apart from th

Vino Vino Bistro is a wine lounge and restaurant located at KK Times Square, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The restaurant is dimly lit, clean, cozy and classy ambience suitable for romantic dinner, private parties and functions. There's a beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling to add sparkle and charm to the dining room. There's two menu available - Japanese menu (from Vino Vino Yakitori) and Western menu (from Vino Vino Bistro). We went through the menu and ordered a plate of tebasaki (Japanese style seasoned deep-fried chicken wings) from Vino Vino Yakitori, located just beside Vino Vino Bistro, two main course and a dessert from Vino Vino Bistro. After we have placed our order, the waitress served us a bowl of complimentary buns with butter. Buns were warm, soft and fluffy. Love it! However, I don't really enjoyed their chicken wings because the chicken taste was very strong. I ordered today's special - Pan fried snapper with mesclun, potatoes and saffron cre

Tanjung Aru beach is only 4 minute drive or 11 minute walk from LCCT Terminal 2 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Stretched to over 2 km long, a popular place to hang out for the locals on the weekend to enjoy the sunset and sea breeze. There are various hawker stalls, fruits stalls, local snacks and seafood restaurant open till late at night. If you are driving, there's an open air car park available with a minimum parking fee of 50 cents. There's also a free open air car park just beside Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa. However, it is located quite far away from the hawker stalls. Do not expect a great beach because Tanjung Aru beach has brown like sea water. Just like a sea of "teh tarik". The beach was very quiet when I got there around noon on a weekday. All I could hear was the wind blows. It was low tide and the beach was full of sand balls made by sand bubbler crab. Such a magnificent masterpiece! Family picnic at Tanjung Aru beach Tanjung
