Brunei - Day 4 (Gadong - The Mall, Gadong)

Our stay at The Centrepoint Hotel includes breakfast for 2 person. Buffet breakfast starts from 6.30am to 10am. I went down for breakfast around 9.30pm and there's not much variety of food. Overall food doesn't taste good. Fried kway teow with seafood ball is too salty for me and same goes for the ginger beef. The beef is chewy and tough. Apart from that, the fried egg is cold. Sad to say that the only dish that I enjoy is the plain congee with crispy anchovies.

C.A. Mohamed is just 3 minutes walking distance (200m) from The Centrepoint Hotel. Their roti kosong is only available from 7am to 11.45am and 3pm to 8.30pm. We reached there around 11.30am and they no longer accept order for the roti kosong. Ended up we order their mee goreng with chicken and a glass of teh tarik ice cream. I don't really like the texture of the mee goreng and it doesn't taste good at all. Besides that, there's too much condensed milk in their teh tarik and it's just too sweet for my liking

Total bill - $ 7.40

We walked to Berry Wan Nasi Katok and the restaurant is empty. We ordered a glass of honey lemon ice and a plate of nasi katok with egg. Honey lemon is very refreshing and not too sweet. Sambal is sweet and spicy. Their fried chicken is crispy and juicy but overall there's nothing impressive about this dish. The menu showed $ 1.50 for the nasi katok with egg. However, when we pay the bill, they charged us extra $ 0.50 as there's a price increase but they didn't bother to change the menu pricing.

Total bill - $ 3.50

Old Klang Road Currypuffs is just few shop lots away from Berry Wan Nasi Katok. We ordered one chicken curry puff stuffed with chicken, egg and potatoes. They gave generous filling of curry chicken and potatoes. However in terms of taste, the curry flavour is not aromatic enough. We had a plate of nasi lemak ayam goreng too. Chicken is crispy and juicy but the coconut rice is not fragrant enough. Besides that, the rice is a bit hard for my liking. Nasi lemak comes with only two pieces of anchovies. It's very salty, soft and no longer fresh.

Total bill - $ 4

The Centrepoint Hotel allows us for late check out at 2pm. After 2pm, a late check out fee of $ 10 will be imposed for every hour. We left our luggage at the hotel baggage room and walked to The Mall, Gadong, just 4 minutes walking distance (300m) from the hotel. I bought 3 boxes of Pepero (Crunchy,  Almond and Snowy Almond flavour) as it's really cheap! In fact it's cheaper than the price we saw in Seoul, Korea.

We had our tea break at Rollseriez and I ordered The Royal Chocolate comes with their signature cinnamon bread, Ferrero chocolate, chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, Nutella and gold ball. Ice cream is smooth, creamy and has an intense chocolate flavour. The whole combination is good except for the cinnamon bread which I don't really fancy much.

We walked back to the hotel, took our luggage and booked a Dart car to the airport via the App. The Brunei International Airport is just 7 minutes drive (5.7km) from The Centrepoint Hotel (Dart fare - $ 8.50). We reached Brunei International Airport around 4.30pm and check in process is fast and smooth. The whole check in process took less than 15 minutes. We still have plenty of time before our flight at 7.30pm. So we hang out at KFC and had our early dinner there. I'm not sure why but both of us can't connect to the free airport WiFi. Our flight departs on time and 40 minutes later we have reached Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

That ends our 14 days Brunei - Seoul - Brunei trip. Overall Bruneian people are very warm and friendly. However in terms of food, it just doesn't suits our taste buds. Whereas for Seoul, it's a great country to explore. Even though we don't speak their language, getting around Seoul via their public transport is so convenient and easy. South Korean society is known for its speediness "pali pali" (quickly) culture and it's indeed impressive.

Total bill - $ 10.50

Note: $ 1 =  RM 3.235

KFC dinner plate - $ 9.90 and drink upgrade to Sejora mango - extra $ 0.60
