KTZ Food - Petaling Jaya

Image
This is one of my favourite dessert shop in SS2. My all time favourite dessert is Mango loh. Shaved ice topped with mango puree, sago pearls and fresh mango cubes. Apart from mango loh, there's red bean loh, honey dew loh, kiwi loh, strawberry loh, ice frutti loh and mat toh loh (all sort of fruits). Besides mango loh, we ordered another type of dessert which is mango glutinous roll topped with shredded coconut. The glutinous rice was a bit hard. The dessert looks presentable but didn't taste very good. I was feeling hungry and decided to order one of their side dishes - radish cake. It is made from shredded radish and plain rice flour. Surprisingly the radish cake was delicious. Not too soft and not too hard. The texture was just right.   KTZ Food Barley with gingo nuts - RM3.20    Mango loh (my all time favourite dessert) - RM7.30    Radish cake - RM3.20    "Mang guo nuo mi juan" (Mango glutinous roll) - RM7.20

Big Mouth Burger - Seremban

Image
Last month we were at Big Mouth Burger to try their 8 inch wide burger! It was huge and I only managed to finished 1/4 of it. (Not to mention the price is "huge" too) Big Mouth Burger (charcoal bun) comes with 800g flame grilled beef patties topped with grilled beef bacon, cheese, tomatoes, onions, served together with fries and free drinks. Fries were good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.  However, the beef patties had a lot of tendon-like bits which I don't really fancy. They do serve normal size burger besides the 8 inch burger. Apart from beef, you can choose either chicken or veggie burger. The restaurant was quite empty when we walked in. I guess the only attraction is the 8 inch wide burger. Other than that it's just an ordinary burger shop. Big Mouth Burger Big Mouth Burger No: 13 - Burger under construction... Free ice lemon tea Beef big mouth burger (8 inch wide) - RM52.80 1/4

Kedai Kopi Genting Cafe - Penang

A trip to Penang wouldn't be complete without a bowl of asam laksa! Asam laksa is a spicy-sour fish based soup noodles. The main ingredients for asam laksa are shredded mackerel fish, sliced cucumber, pineapple, onions, red chilies, lettuce, mint leaves, torch ginger and shrimp paste. Some said the best asam laksa is in Ayer Itam. However, this asam laksa in Kedai Kopi Genting Cafe is good enough for me. It's delicious, full of flavour and very appetizing. Besides asam laksa, there's a stall selling muachi outside the shop. Muachi is a type of dessert made from glutinous rice flour sprinkled with peanuts, sesame seeds and sugar. This is one of my favourite muachi. It's soft, smooth and chewy. Apart from peanuts and sugar, the muachi is topped with fried shallots as well. Best eaten when it's freshly made. My partner loves their chicken rice as well. Rice is aromatic and most importantly the chicken is moist and succulent. I always remove chicken skin before

Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat - Butterworth, Penang

Image
Steamboat also known as hot pot, is a dish where you heat a big bowl of broth at the center of the dinning table until it's boiling and put all types of ingredients into the pot to cook. The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce. Majority of the steamboat restaurant used the electric hot pot. However, what so special about this Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat restaurant is they used the tradisional coal-heated steamboat. Small pieces of coal were placed in the center of the donut-shaped bowl and there's a mini fan placed at the bottom of the bowl to keep the coal burning. You get to choose either the fried fish steamboat or grouper fish steamboat:- Fried fish steamboat (price: RM35, RM45 or RM65) or Grouper fish steamboat (price: RM40, RM50 or RM75) We choose the fried fish steamboat and it came with fried fish, cabbage, yam, seaweeds and bean curd. You can order additional side dishes such as  big prawns, mantis prawns, sea cucumber, fish maw, fresh oyster, s
