Tawau/Semporna - Day 8 (Tawau Town)

Image
It's our last day here in Tawau and we were supposed to have breakfast at Kedai Kopi Hing Lee just 3 minutes walking distance (550m) from  LA Hotel, Tawau . Instead, I had the hotel buffet breakfast as their ayam masak rendang tok looks way too good to resist. I ordered fried egg as well but it's not as good as the one that I had on the first day. Breakfast Ayam masak rendang tok and telur sambal Fruits Fried egg with ayam masak rendang tok I accompanied my partner to Kedai Kopi Hing Lee for breakfast. He ordered dry noodles with pork slices and prawn balls. The meat is lean and tender. Prawn ball is good too. However the dry noodles with dark sauce a little sweet for my liking and the soup not oomph enough. Apart from that, their Teh Ping taste bland. When it comes to pork noodles or more well known as "sang yuk mien" in Sabah, I still prefer  Kedai Kopi Jia Siang  in Kota Kinabalu. Total bill - RM 13.50 Kedai Kopi Hing Lee Restaurant ambience Teh ping Chili Kono noo

It's our 3rd day of Tawau food hunting and in order not to spoil my appetite I decided not to eat hotel breakfast today. However, I still went down at 9.30am to check out their menu and had some fruits. They serve nasi briyani, mee goreng mamak, ayam masak briyani, acar (pickled vegetables), sausages and baked beans.  Coffee or tea and bread section Orange juice Breakfast Fruits We took a Grab car to Kedai Kopi Yuan Yuan, 12 minutes drive (5.6km) from  LA Hotel . (Grab fare - RM 7). We reached there around 10.15am and there's a long queue right in front of the restaurant. What a coincidence! We bumped into two guys that we met in  Kapalai Dive Resort . They were about to leave the restaurant and saw us. They told us that this is one of the best Soto they have had so far. It's so good that they came two days in a row! I ordered Soto chicken with prawn ball and fish ball while my partner ordered Soto with prawn ball, prawn and beef. Soto is a traditional Indonesian soup mainl

Our stay at the  LA Hotel, Tawau  comes with complimentary breakfast for 2 adults. My partner decided not to have breakfast at the hotel as he wanted to explore food in Tawau. Me on the other hand, woke up early and had the hotel breakfast alone. Breakfast start from 6.30am to 10am. By the time I went down for breakfast it's almost 9.30am. They served simple breakfast such as chicken rice, mee hoon tomyam, soy sauce chicken, stir fried vegetables, baked bean and hash brown. There's no porridge and they did not top up any fresh fruits after 9.30am. You may order one set of egg meal only (either fried egg or half boiled egg) from the counter. However, hard boiled egg and omelette is unavailable. I ordered fried egg with baked bean and it's good.
