Perth - Day 2 (Pho Thanh Dat - Freddie Strudels - Boston Burger and Grill)

This is our longest stay in Perth. Basically, we will try to live like a local here. So first thing in the late morning we head to Atlantic Seafood Market located at Northbridge to buy some fresh seafood. Then, we had our brunch at Pho Thanh Dat just a 2 minutes (150m) walk from Atlantic Seafood Market. One of Pho Thanh Dat specialty is "The Lot" comes with raw beef, beef brisket, beef ball, tendon, tripe, short rib, oxtail and bone marrow. You may opt for wagyu beef by paying an extra $ 5. Apart from that we ordered their pork & prawn rice paper rolls (you may choose either pork, prawn, shredded pork, vegie, tofu or chicken), broken rice grilled pork comes with fried egg, pork loaf & shredded pork and a glass of fresh sugar cane.

A warm bowl of pho soup is comforting on a cold day. The beef brisket is tender and juicy. However, their rice paper rolls are tasteless unless you dip it into one of the dipping sauce. Besides that, their fresh sugar cane just taste weird to us. It doesn't taste like fresh sugar cane but more like a mixture of sugar cane with Chinese salted kumquat. This is our first Vietnamese food in Perth and thanks Carmen for the meal.

Total bill - $ 60

After our brunch we decided to eat something sweet and Freddie Strudels is just 5 minutes (350m) walking distance from Pho Thanh Dat. Five years ago we tried their apple, mango and durian strudels. So this round I wanted to try their strawberry strudels. Their strawberry turned out a little too sour but the strudels is a bit too sweet for my liking. I used to enjoy their strudels as it's not too sweet but I guess not anymore. Anyway glad that the sourness of the strawberry goes well with the sweetness of the strudels. We also bought one log of mango strudels and 3pcs of Singapore Chwee Kueh for the kids since it's one of their favourite dessert.

We walked to Golden Choice Perth Fresh Market which is just few shop lots away from Freddie Strudels. We bought a bag of oranges, blueberry, mangoes, banana and Korean pear. All the fruits are good especially the oranges. It's sweet and fresh. Korean pear on the other hand is expensive ($ 7.58 per piece) but it's superbly crisp, juicy and sweet.

At night we had burgers for dinner. We ordered Boston cheeseburger and Boston burger from Boston Burger and Grill. Boston cheeseburger comes with smashed beef patty, American cheddar, sliced pickle, red onion, ketchup and mustard. Whereas Boston burger has the same combination as Boston cheeseburger except they have extra sliced tomato and lettuce. I might say this is one of the best burger that I had so far. The bread is soft and beef patty is really good with a crispy exterior. We had mango strudels for dessert and compared to strawberry strudels that we had earlier, it tastes so much better. The mango filling is slightly sour but overall the strudels is not too sweet.
