Perth - Day 5 (Brown Spoon - Kee Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh)

It's our 5th day in Perth and Joejo suggested we have brunch at Brown Spoon, a Korean Dessert Cafe in Willetton. We ordered mango mascarpone cake, basque burnt cheese cake, purple sweet potato cake and samgyetang Jook (congee) with fried chicken. They have 4 types of basque burnt cheese cake - plain, black sesame, matcha or earl grey. We ordered the plain basque burnt cheese cake and it's good. The flavour is spot on. Apart from that, the cheese cake texture is rich and creamy. I'm not so into their purple sweet potato cake but I like the mango mascarpone cake. The cake is light, airy and moist, filled with sweet fresh mango. Besides that, I like their Samgyetang Jook. It tastes just like home cook congee but it has a very mild chicken ginseng flavour. However, I'm not very impressed with their fried chicken. It's not crispy enough and lack of flavours.

(Thanks Joejo for the wonderful brunch).

We parked our car at Hawaiian's Park Centre and walked to Kee Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh. They have few outlets including one in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah which is our regular place for dinner. We ordered mustard veggies, dry, sauce and claypot bak kut teh. The name "bak kut teh" literally means meat bone tea and it's originated from Klang. Generally, the broth lacking in savory richness and their rice lack of fragrant aroma of shallot and garlic. I guess we still prefer the Kee Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Total bill - $ 97.90 (Thanks Carmen for the meal!)

Leo came back from work with 8 cans of beer. I tried both Hazy and Beerfarm. Hazy has a bitter aftertaste whereas Beerfarm Royal Haze has a mild bitterness. I'm not a beer lover but it's always fun to try new types of beer.
