Novotel - Taiping, Perak

Novotel Taiping is strategically located in the heart of Taiping town. The hotel is directly connected to the Taiping Mall. However, the upper floor of the mall appears to be deserted, with many retailers closed. During check-in, the hotel staff was quite friendly and upgraded our room from twin to king. I was freezing during check-in because the hotel lobby air conditioning was so cold.

We stayed one night in a superior king room that comes with a king-size bed, a working desk, a wall-mounted TV with limited channels, air conditioning with individual temperature control, an in-room safe, an iron, an ironing board, disposable slippers, a shoe mitt, a mini fridge, two bottles of unsealed drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, a wall-mounted hair dryer and basic toiletries.

The room is clean and spacious. The bed is comfy and the pillows are soft and fluffy. However, the room is dim and the table light is not working. The in-room safe was locked, so we requested the front desk for assistance. They told us it was under maintenance and luckily they were able to provide another safe box for us. The bathroom is spacious, with separate toilet, shower and vanity areas. The toilet has its own glass door with no lock, but the shower and vanity area are only separated by a half-divider. Hence, during a bath, water tends to splash out into the vanity area. Water pressure is normal (not strong) but luckily the water is hot enough.

The hotel's facilities include a fitness centre, swimming pool and kid's club located at level 7. You may park your car at level 6 and to gain access to the room floor, you need to use your room key card at the lift. Overall it's a pleasant stay.
