FU Hotel, Bukit Mertajam - Penang

FU Hotel is located in Bukit Mertajam, next to the North-South express highway. The hotel is within walking distance to a convenience shop, coffee shop and restaurants. We were looking for a place to stay in Bukit Mertajam and we decided on this hotel since it's quite new and had decent reviews.

We stayed one night in a superior room that comes with a twin bed, a wall-mounted smart TV, a working desk, air conditioning with individual temperature control, two complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, a mini fridge, an in-room safe, two pairs of disposable slippers, an iron, a hair dryer, complimentary WiFi and basic toiletries. There are only a few channels on TV. However, it does have Astro and Netflix provided you have a login account. Otherwise, you can simply watch YouTube.

The room is spacious, clean and has this modern concept of touch-screen buttons for all the switches. The bed and pillows are comfortable. Each bed comes with two pillows. The bathroom features a sliding door with no lock. The toilet has a heated toilet seat and a bidet with a drier. The shower is separated from the toilet area with its own cubicle. Water pressure is high and the water is initially very hot, but after a long bath, the water turns warm.

When we tried to use the in-room safe, it was locked and we had to get assistance from the front desk. The service was prompt as a lady came right away to fix it. A keycard is required for access to guest room floor. You just need to scan your room card and the lift will automatically determine your floor. Overall it's a pleasant stay.

Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. They only serve ala-carte breakfast and you need to pre-book it at The Pines Restaurant latest by 9.30pm for your next day's breakfast. There's Malay, Chinese, Western or kids breakfast set. Apart from that, there's free flow of Tenom coffee, Sabah tea, mango and orange juice. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking Mount Kinabalu. Great view and you can slide the glass window to get some fresh air.
