Hung Xing Seafood Restaurant - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

This restaurant was recommended by one of our contractor. They don't serve the best "kam heong style crab" but their seafood is really fresh. I can actually taste the natural sweetness and tender of the crab's meat. Same goes for the elephant shell. This is the first time I tried the elephant shell. They are sweet in flavour with an almost crunchy texture.

One of my favourite dish is the Hong Kong style deep fried fish slice. Comes with fried garlic coated with honey and some dry chili, this dish is very flavourful and tasty. Besides that, I enjoyed their salted egg prawns, butter prawn, salted egg with baby long beans and scallops with cashew nut too. However, dry butter prawn (without shell) was so-so. The restaurant ran out of prawns with shell that night but we decided to proceed with this dish. Turned out the prawns were slightly overcooked and dry.

You may choose to dine in an air-conditioned room or the restaurant's open-air section. Apart from that, you get to choose your own seafood. They have live crabs, different variety of fresh fish, elephant shell and prawn mantis but this restaurant serve no pork. There's few variety of vegetable cooking style such as stir-fried, minced garlic, oyster sauce, shrimp paste, poached, salted egg or fermented bean curd. A small cup of complimentary pudding will be served after your meal. Prices stated below excluding 6% GST.
