Tawau/Semporna - Day 8 (Tawau Town)

It's our last day here in Tawau and we were supposed to have breakfast at Kedai Kopi Hing Lee just 3 minutes walking distance (550m) from LA Hotel, Tawau. Instead, I had the hotel buffet breakfast as their ayam masak rendang tok looks way too good to resist. I ordered fried egg as well but it's not as good as the one that I had on the first day.

I accompanied my partner to Kedai Kopi Hing Lee for breakfast. He ordered dry noodles with pork slices and prawn balls. The meat is lean and tender. Prawn ball is good too. However the dry noodles with dark sauce a little sweet for my liking and the soup not oomph enough. Apart from that, their Teh Ping taste bland. When it comes to pork noodles or more well known as "sang yuk mien" in Sabah, I still prefer Kedai Kopi Jia Siang in Kota Kinabalu.

Total bill - RM 13.50

One of the most popular breakfast in Tawau is nasi kuning (yellow rice), a traditional Indonesian rice dish cooked with coconut milk and turmeric. So before we check out from LA Hotel, we decided to walk over to Restaurant Haji Tamrin, just 2 minutes walking distance (600m) from LA Hotel. We ordered a plate of nasi kuning with ayam merah and beef. The nasi kuning or yellow rice is good. However, the beef turns out a little tough and chewy. Ayam masak merah is not spicy or flavourful enough.

Total bill - RM 10

We checked out from LA Hotel at 12.50pm and took a Grab car to Tawau Airport. (Grab fare - RM 31). The Grab driver drove quite fast and within 30 minutes we have reached Tawau Airport. Our flight depart at 3.10pm and 40 minutes later we have landed at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Basically that was our last holiday trip in August before Kota Kinabalu has been put under lockdown again after a flare-up in October.
