Egerton by Vista Rio Melaka - Malacca

Egerton by Vista Rio Melaka is within short walking distance to the famous Restoran Capitol Satay. It is located at Jalan Temenggong, a row of double storey shop lots. You can park your car along the road and upon arrival, the owner gave us his house keys and parking coupons. We stayed for a night and we didn't have any problem looking for a parking lot along the shop lots.

The place didn't give us a good impression from the outside. We were like "are you sure this is the correct place?" Then I heard my father in law spoke to my brother in law "eh... have you paid? Else let's look for another place to stay" If not mistaken I heard my brother in law answered "let's go in and check out the place first". So, nine of us (6 adults and 3 kids) stepped down from the car and went into the shop lot. It's a bit difficult for me to push open the gate. Truly an old fashioned sliding metal gates.

When we opened the wooden door, we were all in awe. The shop lot looks so spacious with a modern heritage decoration, very clean, comfortable and tidy. The place comes with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, dining hall and living hall. Downstairs consist of one bedroom with queen size bed, bathroom, living hall with sofa & LCD TV (Njoi TV satellite from Astro with 27 TV channels and 20 radio channels), kitchen with microwave oven, fridge, water filter, coffee or tea making facilities and wireless internet (wifi only available in the downstairs area).

Upstairs consist of two bedrooms. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, makeup table and open wardrobe. Each room has a self controlled air conditioning including the living hall. Master bedroom is very spacious, comes with two queen size beds. Bathroom comes with hot/cold shower with good water pressure. However, it has a translucent bathroom door which I'm not comfortable with. Besides that, there's no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. Be careful with the bathroom floor too as it gets very slippery when wet. Apart from that, be careful of the staircase. It has an extremely steep steps. Elderly and children will have difficulty climbing the staircase especially when you have to carry suitcases.

Overall it was a pleasant stay. Owner is very nice and friendly. He gave us a box of local biscuits when we checked out the next day. Great place to stay with a big group of friends but not elderly or kids due to the steep staircase, unless they're sleeping downstairs.

(Double storey shop lot rate - RM 438 per night. No breakfast)
