Sydney - Day 8 (Blue Mountains)

We left home around 9.45am and Sam's not telling us where we're going for our brunch until we get there. The only hint that she gave us was ice cream! We were like ice cream for brunch? Finally we arrived at Pancakes on the Rocks. Now I know what she meant by ice cream. By looking at the menu itself is enough to make us drool! We took some time to decide what to order because I felt like trying everything.

So we ordered strawberry patch (buttermilk pancakes with fresh strawberries, cream, vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce), chocolate peanut butter (smooth homemade peanut butter filling sandwiched between two chocolate pancakes topped with vanilla ice cream, cream and drizzled with smooth peanut butter sauce and chocolate sauce), pancakes with Nutella (buttermilk pancakes with Nutella, topped with cream, vanilla ice cream and roasted hazelnuts) and big breakfast (two buttermilk pancakes with whipped butter, hash brown, bacon, sausages, an egg, grilled tomato, grilled banana and pineapple). All together we ordered three types of sweet pancakes and one savory pancake. The pancakes were soft, light and the portion was huge. Ended up we couldn't finish our pancakes. Thank you Sam for the surprise brunch. :)

Daz drove all of us to Blue Mountain after our brunch. The journey took us around 1 hour and 20 minutes from Northmead. One of the main attraction in Blue Mountain is the Three Sisters - Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo.  It's an unusual rock formation in the Blue Mountain. There's three type of Three Sisters Walk. If you are not the adventurous type of people like us, you can go for the Three Sisters & Honeymoon Bridge. It's a short walk and you get to see the beautiful surrounding of the Three Sisters. If you are the adventurous type of people, you can go for the giant stairway & valley walking tracks or Leura Cascades via Prince Henry Cliff Walk which will takes between 1 to 1.5 hour walk.

We dropped by Scenic World located in Katoomba, approximately 10 minutes drive from the Three Sisters. You may go for railway rides, skyway, cableway or walkway at the price of $ 44 per person for an adult or $ 24 per person for a child (4 years old to 13 years old). It's open daily from 9am to 5pm.

We had our picnic lunch at Jamison Lookout, 15 minutes drive (10.7km) from Scenic World. Sam brought chips, chocolates and Lamington cake. She told us we must try this Lamington cake as it's an Australian cake. It's a vanilla sponge cake coated in chocolate and shredded coconut filled with strawberry jam.

We left Blue Mountains around 3.30pm and by the time we reached home it's almost 5pm. Daz has this cool yellow Mustang which I named it Bumblebee. He took us for a "Mustang ride" and I wish I had one too...

We met up with Eric and family for dinner at Criniti's located inside Castle Towers, a shopping centre in Castle Hill. It's an authentic Italian restaurant serving wood fired pizza that can go up to 3m long! After dinner we went to Eric's place and guess what? They bought us strawberry watermelon cake for dessert. We never thought we would have it twice in three days time. We chatted until midnight and it was great catching up with them. Dinner was great (thanks Eric for buying us dinner) and we had a wonderful evening.
