Gaya Island Resort Day 2 - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

It's all about sun, sea and food! We started off our second day in Gaya Island Resort with buffet breakfast at Feast Village. Buffet breakfast starts from 7am to 10.30am. Our 3 days 2 nights Resident Package at Gaya Island Resort includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. You may check out my earlier blog on Gaya Island Resort by clicking this link - Gaya Island ResortGaya Island Resort Day 1

Feast Village serves pastries, cake, bread, pan cakes, cereals, juices, fruits, Asian food such as nasi lemak, Dal, ginger chicken, Western food such as hash browns, beef & chicken sausages, beef bacon, baked bean, oatmeal and fried egg. Standard buffet breakfast and my all time favourite breakfast dish is fried egg with baked bean and hash brown. Basically you can never go wrong with this breakfast dish.

My healthy breakfast

After our buffet breakfast, we hang around the beach area and I love swinging in a hammock that can melt my stress away... We decided to have our two-course lunch at Tavajun Bay Instead of Feast Village or Pool Bar & Lounge. So we took the 12.30pm speedboat ride from Gaya Island Resort to Tavajun Bay. Tavajun Bay is a private beach just 5 minutes away by speedboat from Gaya Island Resort. Perfect white beach with turquoise water.

Tavajun Bay private beach speedboat schedule:
a) Gaya Island Resort to Tavajun Bay - 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm
b) Tavajun Bay to Gaya Island Resort - 11.45am, 12.45pm, 1.45pm, 2.45pm and 3.45pm

I had grilled prawn while my partner had grilled beef comes with white rice, stir fried vegetables, fish crackers and top with butter cream sauce. Lunch was good. Grilled beef was tender and prawns were fresh and tasty. Love the stir fried vegetables as well. We chose one main course with dessert instead of Hivana because we don't eat raw fish. Hivana is a traditional native dish of the Kadazan -  Dusun people and it's made from raw fish mixed with lime juice, salt, chili, sliced shallots and grated ginger.

Borneo Lunch at Tavajun Bay - choose either one appetizer with one main course or one main course with dessert
a) Appetizer - Hivana (RM35)
b) Main course - grilled beef, grilled prawn or grilled mackerel comes with white rice, stir fried vegetables, fish crackers and top with butter cream sauce (RM60)
c) Dessert - mix fruits (RM30)

Lunch time: 12pm to 2.30pm

We took the 2.45pm speedboat back to Gaya Island Resort and hang around the island until dinner time. Two nights in a row we had our buffet dinner at Feast Village. Dinner starts from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Overall dinner at Feast Village was just okay.
