Kelapa Bakar 1 Malaysia - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

If you passed along Jalan Sulaman, you will notice there's many stalls selling grilled coconut, coconut pudding and clams or also known as "lokan" by the local people. We decided to give it a try and picked one shop that has the most crowds. So we ended up at Kelapa Bakar 1 Malaysia. We ordered coconut pudding, grilled coconut and "lokan".

Coconut pudding was served inside a coconut and it's soft like jelly. The sweetness level was just right and you can actually taste the fragrant coconut flavour. However, the texture was a bit too mushy for my liking. Grilled coconut on the other hand was served hot. This was our first time trying hot coconut drinks as most of the time we only had cold coconut drinks. The taste was a bit weird for us. It's like drinking hot coconut soup. Basically, I still prefer fresh cold coconut drinks compared to grilled coconut.

Clams or also known as "lokan" by the locals were grilled in firewood and served with lime and some homemade sauce. I'm not a big fan of clams because of the smooth, slippery and chewy texture. I tried a few and it was just okay for me. Clams were fresh and succulent. It's best eaten together with lime and their homemade sauce.
