Celestial Court (Dim Sum) - Sheraton Imperial KL Hotel

Celestial Court is located in Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur. We were there last weekend for "All you can eat brunch", RM88++ per person. Dim sum is a traditional chinese cuisine served in small steamer baskets or small plates and you have it together with chinese tea. It is very famous in Hong Kong and it is a tradition for the elderly to gather for dim sum after their morning exercise.

Celestial Court served variety of dim sum from deep fried to steamed dim sum. In a typical dim sum restaurant, food will be served in a dim sum cart and there's variety of dim sum for you to choose from the cart. However in Celestial Court, the friendly staff will take your order at your table. You can select any dim sum that you like from the menu. It would be better if it is a pictorial menu, at least we get to picture what we actually ordered.

There's a special menu whereby you only get to order once. These are the special menu items:

a) Sesame Crusted Prawn with Mango Thai Sauce - Prawns were fresh and I just love the combination of sesame with the mango thai sauce. One of my favourite dish!

b) Steam Fresh Water Prawn with Garlic - Water prawn was a bit soft when you bite into them but the garlic was very fragrant.

c) Pan-seared Stuffed Scallop with Shrimp Mousse in Bed of Pumpkin Puree Topped with Caviar - This is my first experience with caviar. Caviar are fish eggs and eaten as a delicacy. The tiny black pearls pop in your mouth and fill it with a kind of slightly salty and fishy taste. The whole combination of stuffed scallop, pumpkin puree and caviar was delicious.

d) Deep-fried Cod Fish with Toasted Sesame Dressing - Cod Fish was fresh. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The dressing was good. One of my favourite dish!

e) Imperial Dumpling with Bamboo Pith in Superior Chicken Consomme - Bamboo pith is a type of fungus and looks like the plastic netting when cooked. It was tender and had a slight crunchy texture. The dumpling was good. Besides that, the soup was clear and richly flavoured.

We also ordered some items from the "All you can eat menu" - steamed dim sum such as "Har Kao", "Siew Mai", fishballs and deep fried dim sum such as shrimp wanton and "Ham Tsui Kok". I'm a big fan of fishballs but I don't really fancy the fishballs here because it's tough and had this fishy taste. My least favourite was the "Ham Tsui Kok which was made of glutinous rice stuffed with tomyam seafood filling. The tomyam seafood was a bit too spicy for me.

Besides that, we ordered sweet and sour grouper fillet served with pineapple which is under the chef recommendation. The fish was fresh however the batter on the fish was a little too thick. Other than that the dish was pretty good.

Variety of desserts were displayed at the entrance of Celestial Court. We only get to tried the chocolate cake, chilled mango cream with pearl sago and red bean tong sui as we were too full. I was hoping for a nice moist sponge chocolate cake but it turned out on the dry side. I love cold desserts and the chilled mango cream with pearl sago was very refreshing. Overall I just love the special menu items but sadly you can only order it once.
