AC Hotel Ipoh - Ipoh, Perak

The AC Hotel, formerly known as the Syuen Hotel, is conveniently located just a short 3-minute walk from the Ipoh Parade shopping mall. To reach the main lobby, guests must take an escalator up from the entrance. Although there are lifts located beside the luggage room, they were not clearly indicated. Additionally, the downwards escalator from the lobby was under maintenance during our visit. We were able to check in early at around 1pm and were assigned a Prime Deluxe King room on the fifth floor. Access to the guest floor is secure, as you need your room key card to activate the card reader in the lift before heading to your floor. On our second day, my room card failed to access the lift, but the issue was quickly resolved at the reception.

The room was spacious and clean, featuring an open wardrobe concept. It was equipped with a king-size bed, a sofa bed, two pairs of disposable slippers, a mini fridge, an in-room safe, coffee or tea-making facilities, two complimentary sealed glass bottles of drinking water, a hairdryer and basic toiletries. The bed was comfortable, making the overall stay pleasant. However, the smart TV had limited channels and couldn't access YouTube or Netflix. Apart from that, the air-conditioning only worked efficiently when set to maximum airflow at 16℃; otherwise, the room became slightly warm at night. The airflow was also quite noisy, and the complimentary Wi-Fi frequently lagged and disconnected.

The bathroom was clean and shower pressure was good, especially from the overhead shower. However, the shower area felt a bit cramped and had no shelf for personal toiletries. There were three mounted dispensers for shower gel, conditioner and shampoo. The basin tended to splash water onto the surrounding area, but on the plus side, the hotel provided both hand and hair towels, which was a nice touch.

The hotel offers a range of facilities, such as a pickleball court and gym on the eleventh floor, a second pool on the fourth floor, and a rooftop pool that was undergoing maintenance while we were there. Guests can also enjoy Studio 88, a karaoke room on level 3 (charges apply), as well as a meeting room and a games room on the same floor. Parking is cashless, and guests can validate their credit, debit or Touch 'n Go card at the reception before exiting to enjoy complimentary parking.
