Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral - Kuala Lumpur

Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is strategically located at the KL Sentral transportation hub and is connected to both the station and NU Sentral shopping mall via a covered walkway. After exiting the Electric Train Service (ETS), take the escalator down one floor and walk toward NU Sentral. Then, take another escalator up one floor and continue walking until you see Tealive. Turn right and follow the signs to Aloft. To get to the reception area, take the lift from the first floor to the ground floor. The access door from the first floor to the NU Sentral shopping mall is open from 8am to 10pm.

We stayed three nights in a king room that comes with a king-size bed, a sofa, a TV with multiple channels, a writing desk, a hair dryer, an in-room safe, two pairs of disposable slippers, basic toiletries, an iron & ironing board, a torch light, two complimentary bottles of mineral water, coffee or tea-making facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, and individually controlled air conditioning. However, the working chair could not be adjusted and was too low, causing discomfort when sitting for long periods of time.

The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The bed was soft, comfortable, and pleasantly scented, accompanied by two slightly firm bolsters. The bathroom has a sliding door that can be locked. The toilet and shower were separate but shared the same sliding door. The water pressure was normal, and the water was hot enough.

The hotel has a rooftop swimming pool that is accessible via the lift without a room key card. There is no lifeguard on duty, and I noticed some guests wearing regular clothes in the pool. The gym is located on the fourth floor, and you must use your room key card to activate the card reader in the lift before proceeding to the gym and room floor. Hotel parking is RM 10 per entry for in-house guests, and payment & validation can be made at the front desk counter. Valet parking costs RM 30 per car for 24 hours.

Our stay included a buffet breakfast from 6am to 10.30am at Nook Restaurant located on level 1. On the first morning, I was woken up at 5.30am by the sound of a phone vibrating in the next room, most likely an early alarm. I had even heard him snoring the night before. I guessed the walls between rooms were quite thin! I went back to sleep and was too tired to make it for breakfast.

On the second morning, I went down for breakfast, and the restaurant wasn't too crowded. My partner joined me later. As usual, I went for my favourite fried egg, but it fell short of my expectations. Fortunately, the hash browns were golden and crispy. Apart from that, the nasi lemak went well with the crispy anchovies, though the sambal was quite spicy. The waffles were served in small pieces and were soft and dense. However, the fried bee hoon was a little salty, and both the soy milk and masala tea were overly sweet for my taste. Overall, breakfast was just okay. What I enjoyed most was the yogurt with almond flakes and sunflower seeds. I decided to skip breakfast on the third day since it wasn't particularly good.

Overall, our stay at the hotel was pleasant and convenient. I especially loved the walk-in closet. Despite minor inconveniences such as thin walls and a low working chair, the hotel provided a pleasant base for our stay.
